Oliver joined RH & RW Clutton as a Partner in 2012 following fifteen years with the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), ten as Chief Surveyor, providing advice to rural land owners and businesses across England and Wales. Prior to the CLA, Oliver was an Associate with Smith-Woolley, managing rural estates for both private and institutional clients, after training with Stratton and Holborow in the West Country and qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1984.
Oliver’s background in Estate Management has formed the basis for his current practice, advising clients on estate and farm planning, dealing with inheritance tax issues, long and short term development and diversification as well as undertaking a wide range of professional work in valuation, planning, and renewable energy. He is currently working with a client to develop several Anaerobic Digester plants in England.
Oliver is a Council member of the Agricultural Law Association, and Chairman of the small pro bono company that supports the UK’s involvement in the International Energy Agency Biogas Task, as well as supporting the East Grinstead Business Association.
Outside work Oliver is married to Helen, a primary school teacher, and they have two grown up children. Oliver is a keen oarsman and a member of a ‘masters’ rowing crew that competes nationally. He is also an active dinghy sailor when time allows.
Oliver is based in our East Grinstead office.
