Robert joined RH&RW Clutton in October 2015 following 24 years as the Resident Agent for the Cowdray Estate, based at Midhurst, West Sussex and a period of 15 months as a Consultant with Smiths Gore.
Robert has experience of managing a wide range of property, including Agricultural, Residential, Commercial, Recreational land and Forestry. Robert has experience of preparing strategic Estate plans together with the organisation of a variety of development projects.
During his time as a Consultant with Smiths Gore he spent 6 months as a locum Estate Manager for a large estate in Southern Scotland for the Buccleuch Estates, followed by a variety of professional work for different clients.
Prior to the Cowdray Estate Robert was an Associate with Smiths Gore in the north of England managing estates for both private and institutional clients, after his initial period of training with Humberts in Dorset.
Robert qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1983 and was appointed as a Fellow in 1994. He also qualified as Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers in 1984 and is an RICS Registered Valuer. Robert is based in the Firm's Petworth office working in our land management team.
Outside work Robert is married to Alison who teaches at a preparatory school near Chichester and they have two sons who are now qualified Commercial Surveyors. Robert enjoys walking in the countryside, together with game shooting and he is also a keen cyclist but definitely not off road across mountains. Robert is based in our Petworth office.
