Government commits to review mass release of gamebirds

Responding to the announcement by Government into a review of the law surrounding game bird release, Oliver Harwood of RH & RW Clutton said “The action by Wild Justice seeks to misuse EU law to attack the legal basis for game shooting. This is deeply regrettable- while there are no doubt some abuses, existing law protects SSSIs and other wildlife sites. Evidence demonstrates that well managed game bird shooting is a significant force for good, supporting conservation and the rural economy. We trust any review will take this evidence into account”.
