SEPTIC TANKS & TREATMENT PLANTS – Permits & General Binding Rules

We would like to remind you of legislation that may affect your private drainage system.

Introduced by the Government 2015 and overseen by the Environment Agency,  The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2014 (EPR) was implemented to reduce pollution caused by waste water.

The General Binding Rules (GBR) and EPR  affect all private drainage systems and set out minimum standards that all systems must comply with. The most pertinent point being that any septic tank discharging to ditches, streams and surface water will need to upgraded or replaced by 1^st January 2020.
