Sunshine brings solar benefits but there is more work to do

As the UK hits an unprecedented share (80%) of our electricity supply from renewable and low carbon energy (solar, wind, biomass and nuclear) at lunchtime on 8 April, Oliver Harwood, Head of RH & RW Clutton’s energy team, is hard at work to help deliver renewable truck fuel.

“The UK has done well in low carbon electricity supplies” said Oliver “but lags behind in transport fuels. HGV trucks with big power demands can’t yet run on batteries, so I am pleased to be working with CNG Services to help deliver renewable biomethane projects across the country”. Biomethane fuelled trucks have already been adopted by transport fleets including Waitrose and Asda, saving 90% of GHG and delivering cleaner air and we want to roll this out as far as possible. RH & RW Clutton provides the property services (including securing sites for gas equipment and delivering the necessary planning consents) to help this happen.

“we are currently using the internet and specialist services like zoom, online Land Registry and of course the telephone and email to progress sites,” said Oliver, “but we look forward to the lifting of Covid-19 travel restrictions so site surveys can be completed on the ground”.
