Heat Network Regulations and the Energy Act 30 March 2015

The above article is misleading and I strongly recommend members to read the (draft) regulations which do NOT make it a requirement now to fit a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm: A) they do not come into force until October and B) there appear to be exemptions for property let on existing tenancies. There is a very good case for landlords doing this anyway but RICS should be more accurate when describing legislation. Oliver Harwood FRICS

You are absolutely correct and I am very grateful for you picking this up.  I’ve looked into how this occurred and understand the piece dropped between two stools in the fact-checking process and made it out the door when it should not have done.  It has been pulled and I intend to replace it with the text below – you might care to see if it accords with your understanding.  Your comment has been posted on the web page in the interim.

I take this sort of error very seriously indeed and have already had internal discussions to ensure the process is tightened.  In the meantime, my grateful thanks once again for your swift comment.

Kind regards
